MLM Leaders – you overtook me

by Charlie on October 13, 2010

One of the mantras of our industry is that we become successful by helping others to become successful. Zig Ziglar’s oft quoted saying “Help others to get what they want and you can have anything you want” has become something of a cliché. We all believe it, don’t we?

Reaching that state of mind may take considerable work in the sense of personal development however. It is easy to say we feel this and that the welfare of our team members is paramount – when we are ahead of the game and we have a team that consists of people who are less experienced than we are.

We can be a benevolent ruler when we are head and shoulders above those around us. [click to continue…]

Desires, dreams, goals or a decision? As Napoleon Hill teaches, we need a burning desire to have financial success. Without dreams and goals, we have nothing to aim for. All these things should be clearly visualised and written down.

But there is only one way to eliminate the option for failure and that is to make a decision. When I was at my company convention we were all inspired by the successful speakers. Everyone was saying that they wanted to achieve the same thing. ‘Yeah, I’ll be on the stage next year getting that pin award.’ [click to continue…]

Top MLM Companies – annual convention time

by Charlie on September 8, 2010

Be there or be square. Have you attended your annual company convention? If not, why not? Many MLM companies are based in the USA and most have their annual conventions there. So if you live outside the USA it will be a costly venture for you. I often hear someone saying that they will wait till income from their business is enough to fund the trip – why wait? “Let me show you how to get 100 leads a day!” Hmmm, maybe I’m an old cynic but what does that mean when you hear it? Are the leads real and how do they translate into genuine prospects and then business partners? There are a lot of folk in our profession who appear to stress quantity over quality. Seriously, could you call 100 people a day?

We all work with different lead generating systems. In the one I use, a lead is really only of value if I can call him or her. Simply opting in to a list means little. That useful lead then only becomes a prospect if the first call results in building a relationship. Note that at this point I am not talking about getting him in my business nor am I making any money from him. [click to continue…]

Generating leads; finding the right people to talk to; developing communication and sponsoring skills; these are certainly important. You won’t get far if you can’t build a team. But I knew someone who was good at all these things. Their team grew; lots of new distributors and enthusiasm and then attrition set in and it collapsed. Then more new team members……and the cycle started again. So what was missing? Maybe some of these…..

The following qualities are the foundation blocks on which you build.

Commitment: this is the ‘never give up’ quality that is your first requirement. Never give up on you; your dream; your team. If you don’t have this, you are doomed. But it is also important that your team feels this from you – it will inspire them. [click to continue…]

A True MLM Leader – part 3, developing your inner strength

May 30, 2010

Great leaders and inspirers of men are not arrogant and unapproachable – they have no need to be like that. That is the domain of petty tyrants and small minded wannabe leaders. Leaders have no need to prove themselves to anyone else. Why is that? When I was young and rebellious I wanted to feel [...]
